After graduating from the Royal Columbian Hospital School of Nursing in 1975, I have been fortunate to have had many exciting career experiences. Some of the highlights include acute care, home, community, ambulatory clinic, and street outreach, as well as administrative leadership roles, outpost, and international volunteer opportunities. The growing scope of specialized nursing services and access to innovative technologies has certainly provided a range of challenging and satisfying educational nursing adventures along the way!
My current passion is focused around the specialized field of advanced wound, ostomy and continence care. In addition to multiple opportunities to learn the art and science of this area, I have had the privilege of working and learning alongside some of the most outstanding Canadian nurse clinicians, teachers and mentors. It has been a highlight of my nursing career to have been welcomed to the Ostomy Care team, who strive to champion excellence in ostomy and continence care, and have established a culture, not only of caring support for patients and families, but also make information exchange and advancing practice a priority. At a time in my career when many of my colleagues consider retirement, it is extremely exciting to have the opportunity to join a team who are committed to making a significant difference in patient care and outcomes.
Best job ever!
